A Fascinating Educational Tour to ICON Labs

Unveiling the World of Microscopy: Journey to ICON Labs

A student educational tour provides a valuable opportunity for students to expand their knowledge beyond the confines of the classroom, gaining practical insights from industry experts. Recently, an educational tour to ICON Labs was organized for 49 students from the B.Sc General and M.Sc Analytical Chemistry courses, accompanied by five faculty members from MVPS's KPG Arts, Commerce & Science College in Igatpuri, Nashik, Maharashtra. This visit, scheduled as part of the curriculum, aimed to expose students to real-world industrial settings.

During the tour, students were divided into batches of 7-9 and taken on a guided tour of the ICON Labs facility. They had the privilege of witnessing demonstrations of cutting-edge equipment such as the Quanta 200 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Quanta FEG FESEM, and Technai 12 Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). Expert staff members, namely Mr. Kiran, Ms. Sunita, and Mr. Venkatesh, generously shared their knowledge with the students. They meticulously explained the sample receiving protocols, working principles of each microscope, and showcased the remarkable capabilities of these instruments. The faculty members and students were actively engaged in an enriching and interactive session with the knowledgeable staff at ICON Labs.
